We’re working on behalf of a 671-bed hospital whose Regional Cancer Center is recognized as the region’s leader in advanced technologies and clinical expertise for diagnostic, surgical, treatment, and follow-up oncologic care. The hospital is an independent academic medical center providing comprehensive acute care, post-acute rehabilitation, behavioral, and occupational health services. Its facility in West Reading consists of a 22-building complex located on a 36-acre suburban campus.
We seek candidates with two (2) or more years of oncology experience for the role of Oncology Clinical Specialist - Pharmacy. The person in this role will be responsible for assisting in the planning, organization and direction of clinical pharmaceutical services in the Cancer Infusion Center (CIC) and the inpatient setting to achieve high quality standard of care in Oncology related pharmacy services throughout the continuum. The successful candidate will provide specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes for patients. He/she will review and recommend enhancements to the Oncology module (Beacon) of the EHR (Epic) to improve the provider and pharmacist workflow within treatment plans, maximizing this tool to optimize patient safety. He/she will collaborate with the pharmacy managers in developing training and education programs and evaluation processes for Oncology related clinical activities performed by the pharmacist staff. He/she will prepare formulary review and drug use evaluations of medications used in Hematology and Oncology for presentation to the CIC Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee along with quarterly reports to the Reading Hospital Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Candidates must be a graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy and be licensed as a pharmacist in the state of Pennsylvania (or have the ability to gain this licensure). Strong preference given to candidates with a Pharm.D. and pharmacy residency experience. Strong preference also given to candidates with Epic Beacon. The successful candidate will place a strong emphasis on patient care with the patient as the highest priority and central focus in all endeavors and undertakings of the individual and the department.
